Boundary Disputes

Should you find yourself in the middle of a boundary dispute with your neighbours please think about the items below:

  • Discuss the problem with your neighbour

  • Boston Mayflower can provide scale plans

  • Boundary posts are often already in place

  • Permission is required to erect fencing

  • Fencing should be no higher that 2 meters at the back and 1 metre at the front

  • Generally speaking when looking directly at the property the fencing/boundary on the right hand side of your home is your responsibility (however this is only a guide)

  • If the property next door is an Owner/Occupier there will be a record of boundary responsibilities and who owns what land

  • Boston Mayflower can arbitrate in boundary disputes between tenants but our decision is final
