FAQs

Below is a list of some of the frequently asked questions we receive about getting involved:

What does Get Involved Mean?

Customers can be involved as little or as much as they are able to, in making decisions, shaping services and monitoring Boston Mayflower's performance as well as developing local communities and increasing opportunities, as Boston Mayflower offers training as part of our participation policy.

How much work is involved?

You can choose the level of involvement that is appropriate to you. Please refer to our Your Voice menu of options for details.

When and where are meetings held?

Meetings are held in a variety of locations. How often they are held depends on the group you are involved in. Please refer to our Get involved page for details.

How do I get to meetings?

Boston Mayflower will arrange taxis and pays travel and parking expenses for members who drive to meetings.

I have children, can I attend meetings?

Boston Mayflower will pay for childcare if needed, to help those with children to attend meetings.

What happens if I have mobility issues or disabilities?

We always try to ensure that our meetings are either held on the ground floor or that there is lift access. We will pay for a carer for you or someone you look after at home to enable you to attend meetings.

What are the benefits of getting involved?

Getting involved is a good opportunity to meet new people and have a say in making improvements to services. You will learn more about how the company works, can learn new skills and make a real difference in your community. Everyone who gets involved will earn points towards shopping vouchers which will be received at the end of the year.

Are meetings friendly?

Everyone is welcome at our meetings. Our staff will always make you feel at home and are always on hand to answer any questions.

Can I come and have a look if want to?

Yes. If you are interested in a certain group but unsure what it entails you are more than welcome to come along to a meeting before deciding if you would like to join. Everyone who is interested in becoming a Customer Scrutiny Panel member is asked to attend a meeting before joining as part of the recruitment process.

What happens if I cannot attend every meeting?

Boston Mayflower encourages members to attend as many meetings as possible, however we appreciate that there may be circumstances which mean members may not be able to attend a meeting from time to time. We ask that if you cannot attend a meeting you contact us to let us know. We will send you details from the meeting that you have missed.
